Gold and Silver Prices Hit Unprecedented Highs in Chennai

After a continuous surge, gold and silver prices saw a slight decline yesterday. However, today (January 23, 2026), both metals have reached new record highs once again.

Gold prices had been rising at a “jet” speed, crossing ₹1,15,000 per sovereign the day before yesterday and touching an all-time high. On that day, one gram of gold was sold at ₹14,415 and one sovereign at ₹1,15,320. Yesterday, prices dipped slightly by ₹215 per gram and ₹1,720 per sovereign, bringing the rates down to ₹14,200 per gram and ₹1,13,600 per sovereign.

Similarly, silver prices also fell yesterday by ₹5 per gram and ₹5,000 per kilogram, with rates standing at ₹340 per gram and ₹3,40,000 per kilogram.

Today’s Prices (January 23, 2026):

Gold: Increased by ₹3,600 per sovereign to ₹1,17,200; up ₹450 per gram to ₹14,650.

Silver: Increased by ₹20,000 per kilogram to ₹3,60,000; up ₹20 per gram to ₹360.
