Gold Price Hits New Record at the Start of the Week – Todays Update (19.01.2026)

In Chennai, the price of gold jewellery has reached an unprecedented high, shocking buyers planning purchases for auspicious occasions. The day before yesterday, the price of gold rose by ₹50 per gram to ₹13,280 per gram, and by ₹400 per sovereign to ₹1,06,240. Yesterday, gold remained steady at ₹13,280 per gram and ₹1,06,240 per sovereign.

At the beginning of this week, gold prices have surged again, setting a new peak. Today (19.01.2026), gold increased by ₹170 per gram to ₹13,450 per gram, and by ₹1,360 per sovereign to ₹1,07,600.

Silver prices, which have been rising alongside gold, also recorded a sharp increase today. Silver went up by ₹8 per gram, with one gram selling at ₹318 and one kilogram bar priced at ₹3,18,000.
