The Government of Tamil Nadu has officially released the Public Holiday List for 2026, declaring 24 holidays for all government offices, public sector undertakings, corporations, and boards functioning under its control.
This announcement was made through an order issued by Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam.
The holidays include major national festivals, religious observances, and regional celebrations like Pongal, Thiruvalluvar Day, Uzhavar Thirunal, and Tamil New Year. These holidays are applicable throughout Tamil Nadu.
Note: April 1, 2026, is declared a holiday only for commercial and cooperative banks in Tamil Nadu due to the annual closing of accounts.
